Luxembourg, June 16th, 2014 – CIRCL is proud to announce its membership to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), a global non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs) from Asia, Europe, Americas and Oceania. The organisation gathers response teams from over 240 corporations, government bodies, universities and other institutions.

The aim of FIRST is to facilitate communication between incident response and security teams across the globe in order to contribute to a fast and effective resolution of computer security incidents, and to promote incident prevention programs.

“This is a major global step for our team. As we all know security incidents are not restricted to specific geographical locations or administrative boundaries. The incidents involve numerous sites that can be located in various places around the world. The FIRST organisation has achieved worldwide coverage, strong collaboration between security teams and outstanding expertise on a variety of security topics. Members combine their knowledge and skills with the aim to develop a safer and more secure global digital environment”, explains Alexandre Dulaunoy from CIRCL.

The members comprise teams of security experts coming from different backgrounds and fields: educational, commercial, vendor, government and military. They develop and share on a regular basis best practices, tools, methodologies, processes and trusted communications among each other. They regularly assist companies and organisations on a local scale and also define an adequate solution with the other teams on a global scale.

CIRCL will also be sponsoring this years’ FIRST annual conference in Boston on June 22nd to 27th. This conference focuses essentially on Computer Security Incident Handling and gathers leading experts from the CSIRT field and the global security community. The participants range from IT managers, network and system administrators, software and hardware vendors, to law enforcement representatives, security solutions providers, telecommunications organizations, ISPs, and general computer and network security personnel, from around the world.
