Senior Software Engineer at CIRCL

Security made in Lëtzebuerg g.i.e. established in 2010 under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, in partnership with SIGI and SYVICOL is strengthening its high performing team.

The Computer Incident Response Center Luxembourg (CIRCL), department of SECURITYMADEIN.LU is seeking a senior software engineer to join the CIRCL team. Our team is a dedicated incident response team with advanced software engineering capabilities, developing some of the leading open source software used in threat intelligence, information sharing and incident response.

Mission and role

  • As a team member of the CIRCL department, design, code, build, debug and improve core open source packages, especially MISP
  • Work with the core developers of MISP (which include external contributors) in an open-mind environment, to enhance & create useful tools for the cybersecurity community.
  • Gather and evaluate requirements from the threat-intel community, public and private organisations, dedicated user groups and other players in the cybersecurity field.
  • Collaborate with internal developers and support external contributors in the many software projects we are part of

Profile and requirements

  • Proven track record in designing, developing, debugging and releasing open source software
  • Ability to work autonomously while keeping a team-centric mindset
  • Proficiency in PHP >=7 and at least one major PHP MVC framework (we ourselves use CakePHP)
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and its related ecosystems
  • Proficiency in Linux, including basic shell scripting
  • Proficiency in Python >= 3.6
  • Familiar with git and its related concepts
  • Experience in intelligence analysis, cyber security and digital forensic
  • Knowledge of the PMF methodology
  • Ability to keep your sense of humor while fixing your own code when security vulnerabilities are discovered
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with users to gather requirements and giving trainings
  • Fluent in English (mandatory), oral and in writing. French, German and Luxembourgish are considered as an advantage.
